Welcome to White Bear Books. This store is a family and friends collection of books. Because of our Native American ancestry, we call our shop White Bear Books in honor of the Spirit Bear. We are glad your here and appreciate your business. Fun facts: In the Great Bear Rainforest on the coastal islands of British Columbia, there lives a rare & magnificent creature known as the Spirit bear (the "Kermode" bear). While the bear's fur is usually a beautiful black, about 1 in 10 is born a snowy white due to a recessive gene mutation. Folklore states that the bears got their color during the last ice age when white was needed for camouflage.
