Seller Description
This 100 page book in German contains detailed notes to the world chess championship match between Botvinnik and Smyslov in 1954, won by the defending champion and author, Mikhail Botvinnik. It also includes a thorough openings survey. The German is easy to read using the Google translate app. A prior author’s signature is on the title page, as well as some pencilled price notation by the previous seller, the late world famous chess antiquarian, Dale Brandreth (not signed by him). A previous owner has neatly put a slash mark through the numbers of the games in light pencil, as shown in the photos. The covers show wear, but internally the book is an excellent condition apart from the scant penciled marginalia as described above.
